Our Heritage

The founding and growth of Hytek.

In 1994, In Southeast Manitoba, three Vielfaure Brothers (Paul, Denis and Claude) and Don Janzen joined resources to fulfill a common vision: To create the most efficient and integrated operating structure for the production of hogs.

Moving towards self-efficiency and other opportunities, the company built its own: feedmills (5 today), vet services division, genetic company (has become major supplier of genetics in North America). pork production in Canada, U.S. and China. They also have their own distribution center which buys centrally for products used throughout the company, nutrient company (properly applies manure to the soil), maintenance division (transports grain and livestock). All grain and feed ingredients are also purchased internally. Hytek has further integrated, purchasing Springhill Farms processing plant (employs 500 people) in Neepawa, which processes their commercial production.

As the company expanded, and growth strategies continued to evolve, Grant Lazaruk and Henry Van de Velde (strong financial and management backgrounds) joined Hytek as partners. The company then became known as Hytek. The company remains focused on efficient hog and meat production, and finding new opportunities of growth and creating value-added partnerships.

While Hytek has grown into a global company, with facilities across North America,China and beyond, the company headquarters remain in Southeast Manitoba. Hytek wears its homegrown principles with pride, as demonstrated in living up to the values that are the cornerstones of our business.  The Management and staff believe deeply in giving back to the communities where we do business.
